Beautiful Teeth For Your Every Emotion

porcelain veneers price Las Vegas

Unfortunately, not everyone smiles all the time. And not everyone is smiled at all the time. But even frowns need to be clean if you want to maintain a high level of dental health. We’ll take good care of you at Providence Dental in Las Vegas.

At every checkup, we examine you for any signs of gum disease. In its mildest form, gum disease is known as gingivitis and is easily treated. In its more severe form, gum disease is called periodontal disease, and is one of the leading causes of tooth loss. It can be still be brought under control, but it takes more aggressive treatment.

What Else?
Good dental health means you probably don’t have much of a problem with bad breath. Of course, most of us have yukky breath when we first wake up in the morning. But brush your teeth after breakfast and you should be good to go. In most cases of chronic bad breath – about eighty-five percent of them – poor dental hygiene is to blame.

When it comes to dental health, your toothbrush and dental floss are your best friends. Brush and floss at least twice a day. When you brush, you remove the plaque that builds up on your teeth and causes cavities. Flossing gets out the gunk that builds up between teeth.

At Providence Dental in Las Vegas our comprehensive services include family dentistry and orthodontics. Schedule an appointment with us today!

See Providence Dental For A Smile Impossible To Ignore

Providence Dental For A Smile Impossible To Ignore

Is it possible to stop, or at least slow down, the aging process? Goodness knows, we try! From face lifts to Botox to hair implants, to simply staying in shape – we’re contantly trying to maintain that youthful appearance. Another great option are porcelain veneers from Providence Dental in Las Vegas.

Porcelain veneers are thin shells of medical-grade ceramic that are affixed to the fronts of your teeth. It’s an easy way to mask any flaws, such as chips, cracks, or gaps between teeth.

Veneers are also great for whitening your smile. Our teeth naturally grow dull over the years. A lifetime of coffee or tea, red wine, and a host of other food and drink take a toll. You’ll still need to brush, of course. But veneers are largely stain-resistant, so once they’re in place you’ll never have to worry about discoloration again.

There is more than just a cosmetic benefit to porcelain veneers. Tooth enamel can grow thin over the years, from overzealous brushing and highly acidic foods and drinks. Unfortunatley, enamel won’t grow back: once it’s gone, it’s gone. Veneers are great treatment for teeth that have compromised enamel.

Porcelain veneers from Providence Dental in Las Vegas leave you with a youthful new smile, one that your friends will find impossible to ignore. They’re just one of the cosmetic dentistry procedures we offer. Call us to schedule an appointment today!

Let’s Talk About Your Smile

Let’s Talk About Your Smile

How do you like your smile? At Providence Dental in Las Vegas, we know how easy it is to be your own worst critic. But we also know lots of people don’t care for one aspect or another of their smile. We can improve any smile with cosmetic dentistry.

Maybe you have a tooth that’s been chipped since middle school, or a gap between your front teeth that’s been there since forever. Or maybe your smile has grown dull and yellow over the years.

Popular Procedures

There are cosmetic dentistry procedures that can address just about any smile issue you might have.

  • Porcelain veneers. Thin shells of medical-grade porcelain are designed to fit over the front side of your teeth. They’ll hide chips, cracks, gaps, and other flaws. They’re custom-made to your teeth, look totally natural, and leave you with a great new smile.
  • Bonding. Bonding is another way to correct any flaws in your teeth. A special material is bonded to a tooth, and shaped to create a strong structure that looks fabulous.
  • Crowns. Dental crowns are fitted over teeth that are discolored or in need of restoring due to damage or decay. They are long-lasting and strong.
  • Whitening. Teeth whitening is an easy, popular procedure that lightens the color of your teeth. The same whitening agents found in whitening toothpastes, but at much higher concentrations, bleach out years of stains and other discolorations and give you a dazzling smile.
  • Dental implants. Dental implants replace missing teeth. A titanium post is inserted into the jaw and fuses with the bone. An artificial tooth goes on top. Implants look and function like natural teeth.

At Providence Dental in Las Vegas, our cosmetic dentistry can transform your smile into something special. We also offer a full range of family dentistry procedures. Call to schedule an appointment with us today!

These Snacks Are Just As Bad As Candy For Kids’ Teeth

pediatric dentist Las Vegas

This message  from Providence Dental in Las Vegas is about harmful snacks that may fly under your radar.

Most parents know that candy is bad for teeth. Most of it is made primarily of sugar. Sugar creates acid that drills into enamel. A small hole can become a cavity. At that point, the tooth is compromised and may need dental work.

Because sugar is bad for teeth, many parents choose what they believe are healthier snacks. Unfortunately, many are nearly as damaging for oral health.

Let’s look at the most common kids’ snacks that are just as bad as candy.

Dried fruit

Nutrition-wise, a dried apricot is a far better selection than a candy bar. The trouble is that dried fruits stick tightly to teeth. This poses the same oral health risk as candy.

Sports and Energy Drinks

Few moms and dads let their young children guzzle energy drinks. But many parents buy electrolyte-containing sports drinks for older children. Be sure to scrutinize the labels. Some sports drinks have as much sugar as soda.

Soy, Almond, or Rice Milk

Parents whose son or daughter can’t tolerate lactose turn to non-dairy milk substitutes. Most come in  sweetened and un-sweetened versions. Sweetened types contain a significant amount of sugar.

Granola Bars

Traditional sugary granola bars should be considered candy. (Ditto for fruit snacks.)

Yogurt

Kids need calcium, and yogurt is a good source. Many kinds of flavored yogurt, however, have a high sugar content. Some parents keep the fridge stocked with hand-held yogurt packets. Kids who eat these throughout the day are subjecting their teeth to a continual stream of sugar.

Sweetened Applesauce

Some manufacturers pack this healthy snack with loads of sugar. If you can get your youngsters used to fruit without added sugar, they will be better off.

Instant Oatmeal

We all know that most cold cereal marketed for children is sugar-filled. Instant oatmeal is a convenient alternative that is healthier in many respects. Be aware that some have as much sugar as Froot Loops or Frosted Flakes.

It would be all but impossible to eliminate all of these items from your child’s diet. We want you to be aware of the sugar content so they can make informed choices.

Beating Horrible Halitosis

Las Vegas lowest price teeth bleaching

Mouthwash has its benefits: it can leave your breath minty fresh with just a few quick swishes. But it isn’t a cure for chronic bad breath. At best, it is a temporary mask. If you cope with ongoing bad breath, ask us about it next time you’re at Providence Dental in Las Vegas.

Ordinary bad breath is caused by the things we eat and drink. Food debris builds up in the mouth and forms plaque on the teeth, which is a bacterial buildup. The best defense is to brush your teeth thoroughly after every meal.

Certain foods like onions and garlic, of course, are worse than others. Food particles can actually get into your bloodstream, and from there to the lungs. Once it does, it’s on your breath every time you exhale. You’ll have to wait it out.

Other common culprits:

  • Coffee
  • Alcohol
  • Diets high in sugar
  • High protein or Low Carb diets
  • Smoking

These, as noted, are causes of ordinary bad breath. Digestive issues, like acid reflux, can also affect the breath. Dry mouth (xerostomia) can also cause it, since saliva helps to keep the mouth clean by washing away food debris.

Health Conditions

Bad breath can actually be a warning sign of a more serious health condition. If you have persistent bad breath in spite of good oral hygiene, be sure to have it checked out. It may be a sign of a more serious issue, like a blood disorder, liver and kidney problems, or – much less common – even cancer.

Best Practices For A Healthy, Beautiful Smile

cosmetic dental Las Vegas

Even if you value a healthy smile, it’s easy to become remiss about smile-friendly lifestyle choices. In this post from Providence Dental in Las Vegas, our goal is for you to analyze where you stand and think about whether you could step it up a notch.

Committing to oral health best practices can prevent future problems and improve your quality of life. Here are some things to think about:

Brushing

Good: Brush teeth once a day.
Better: Brush teeth correctly after each meal.
Best: Brush after each meal and floss properly before bed.

Dental Checkups

Good: See us if you get a toothache.
Better: See us once a year even if you don’t notice any dental troubles.
Best: Twice-yearly, have a thorough dental exam and professional dental cleanings.

A White Smile

Good: Use a whitening toothpaste.
Better: Use an OTC whitening product at home.
Best: Schedule an in-office tooth whitening treatment.

Missing Tooth

Good enough for some people: Ignore it. (We don’t recommend this.)
Better: Get a quality dental bridge.
Best: Restore your smile with a beautiful, durable, and natural-functioning dental implant.

Smile-Friendly Nutrition

Good: Eat a sensible diet.
Better: Eat a healthy diet and limit sugary snacks and beverages.
Best: Eat a wholesome diet, limit between-meal snacking, eat lots of calcium-rich foods, limit sugar-filled foods, abstain from energy drinks and soda, and sip water throughout the day to keep acid at bay.

For Young Smiles

Good: Never put your baby to bed with a bottle. When your toddler starts drinking from sippy-cup, don’t let them sip juice or milk all day.
Better: Follow the previous guidance and schedule his/her first dental checkup before the first birthday.
Best: In addition, ask us about dental sealants when your child is young. When your little athlete starts participating in sports, make sure he/she wears a protective mouthguard. Set a good example of daily dental hygiene and healthy lifestyle choices.

Regular Cleanings And Heart Health

Las Vegas Dental News Regular Cleanings And Heart Health

Visiting Providence Dental in Las Vegas for a dental checkup and cleaning every six months may  seem inconvenient sometimes, but you may benefit in ways you’d never imagine.

A recent study showed that people who had their teeth professionally cleaned at least once every two years were 24 percent less likely to have a heart attack, compared to those who skipped appointments.

Not only that, but brushing your teeth twice a day for at least two minutes may lower your risk of heart disease. The study says that eople who brushed less than twice a day, and for less than two minutes, were three times as likely to have heart issues than those who brushed at least twice, and for at least two minutes.

A cardiologist who was not associated with the study said it’s possible that those who are attentive to their dental health may simply be more health conscious overall.

Still, researchers believe it strengthens the notion that there is a clear link between your dental health and your overall health.

At Providence Dental in Las Vegas we encourage all our patients to brush their teeth for two minutes at least twice a day, and to floss, too. It’s the best way to keep cavities at bay. Our services include family and restorative dentistry. Schedule your next cleaning and checkup today!

We are devoted to providing each patient with personalized care in our state-of-the-art dental practice.

Maintaining your dental health is something that you have to work at every day. It can be a real balancing act: using the right oral care products, your personal oral care habits, and seeing us for regular checkups and cleanings.

Your dental health strategy should include:

  • Daily brushing and flossing. You should brush and floss twice a day. Just before bedtime is especially important, because it cleans out the germs and plaque that build up during the course of the day.
  • Proper brushing. It’s important not only to brush, but to brush properly. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush in a gentle, circular motion along the gum line. Use a fluoridated toothpaste and take your time; a minimum of two minutes is recommended.
  • Seeing the dentist twice a year. We have to include this one. A professional teeth cleaning alone is worth the trip to our office, but the dentist can also identify issues before they become serious, and treat them.

At Providence Dental in Las Vegas, our team works hard to keep your teeth and gums clean and healthy. Our services include family and restorative dentistry. Schecule a cleaning and checkup with us today!
