Change Your Life In 4 Steps

cosmetic dental and implants

Healthy teeth that work as nature intended are essential for a high quality of life and overall health. Las Vegas folks who cope with dentures know what I’m talking about.

There is no question that dentures are preferable to a completely toothless mouth, but they are not problem free. Your mouth delivers multiple basic functions, each of which can be impaired by the hassles of dentures.

Dentures can make it problematic to chew and taste food. It’s embarrassing to talk when they are slipping around in your mouth and laughing can dislodge them entirely. They can even make it hard to breathe – and it doesn’t get more basic than that.

Even if you have had dentures for many years, you may be a candidate for dental implants. Dental implants are an unusually versatile custom-made substitute for dentures.

Dental implants can be used to replace several teeth and/or anchor over dentures. Mini dental implants (also called denture-stabilization implants) allow your dentist to securely attach an appliance so that it won’t slip or irritate gums. Small titanium posts are implanted into the jawbone and fuse with the surrounding bone, assembling a heavy-duty base for an over denture.

Here is the process:

1. Examination and Assessment
During your first visit, your dentist will take x-rays and assess your mouth and the condition of your teeth, gums, and jawbone. Your dentist will evaluate options with you and together you will develop a treatment plan.

2. Implant Placement
A complete tooth implant and restoration consists of the actual implant or root replacement, an abutment, and final restoration. The first step is to insert the titanium alloy implant into your jawbone. This is not as difficult or painful as it sounds. Most patients are surprised at how rapid and easy the procedure is.

3. Integration
Implant surgery would not be successful if your jawbone did not welcome an artificial and non-biological tooth root. Amazingly, in the vast majority of cases, the jawbone tightly fuses with the implant to create an extremely substantial foundation for the final restoration. It takes from three to six months for your jawbone to work its incredible magic.

4. Final Restoration
Whether your last step is a crown, bridge, or denture, your dentist will work with the lab to manufacture a beautiful and functional restoration. A connecting piece called an abutment attaches the restoration to the artificial root(s). The crown, bridge, or denture is all that is visible at the end of the process. Dental implant restorations are essentially indistinguishable from previous teeth.

Dental implant patients of all ages are amazed with the greater quality of life implants deliver.

How Dental Implants Are Changing Dentures

Dental Implants Las Vegas If you are one of the many Las Vegas denture wearers, you know that they are not the ideal solution for missing teeth.

The problems with dentures include slipping, gum irritation, trouble eating and talking, bone loss, and inability to taste food due to a covered palate. Clearly, dentures do not feel and function like natural teeth.

Good oral hygiene and regular dental checkups can help you avoid the need for dentures later in your life, but other factors can make dental replacements an inevitability.

The good news? Modern dental implant technology offers a better tooth restoration solution. If you currently wear traditional dentures and are not happy with them, implant anchored dentures may dramatically change your life. Your chewing ability will be similar to that of natural teeth and you will be able to eat hard foods again.

How about a thick T-bone at your favorite Las Vegas steakhouse? In addition to being able to enjoy your meal, you will avoid the embarrassment of having your dentures rattle around in your mouth in public.

Before you pay for another denture reline, ask your Las Vegas dentist about the possibility of dental implants.

Attention Las Vegas denture wearers: there is life after dentures with tooth implants!

6 Reasons To Ditch Your Dentures For Dental Implants

Implant dentures Las Vegas

For thousands of years, dentures have been allowing people to chew foods harder than mashed bananas and flash some teeth when they smile. However, denture wearers know how unstable, irritating, embarrassing, and inconvenient they can be.

Today, dental patients with missing teeth are fortunate to have a tooth replacement choice that is far better than both traditional dentures and dental bridges. A tooth implant provides the total package, so to speak. An implant replaces the visible part of the tooth and – this is key – also the root.

The dental implant process works like this: A super-strong titanium post is anchored directly into the jawbone. An abutment is then attached to the post. Finally, a crown or denture is attached to the abutment. Tooth implants provide the following benefits:

Stability – Implants don’t move around in your mouth.  This permits normal chewing, swallowing, and speech.
Bone Retention – The post prevents the bone loss that almost always occurs after a tooth is extracted
Dental implants prevent jaw muscle dysfunction that can occur when remaining teeth are forced to compensate for missing teeth
Tooth implants eliminate gum irritation caused by dentures
No need for denture relines
No denture adhesive needed (Remember, they are anchored in your jawbone just like natural teeth!)

Las Vegas dental implant patients with one or two missing teeth can replace each missing tooth with a permanent implant. Las Vegas dental patients with significant tooth loss are usually best served with an implant-anchored denture.
